We need haters. If we are going to produce our best, then the haters are necessary.
Haters are the cocoon. They are the thing that encapsulates the worm. Their criticisms make it hard. They make it scary to show the work we’ve done. They force the caterpillar to push and stretch.
And yet, they force the life flow of blood to the very tips of its wings and in the end, they make it healthy and alive and vibrant. The cocoon is the reason that the butterfly has life and is beautiful. The beauty of the butterfly comes from the very thing that attempted to strangle it.
Can you see the value of the haters? Their place in your life is painful. They make it harder than it should be. And yet, that’s good isn’t it? Aren’t you glad for the challenges they forced you to overcome? They forced you to go the extra mile, to put in the extra effort. They saved you from being lazy and accepting of work that is less than it could have been. Just think what you would have produced if not for the critics.
If you haven’t been hurt by criticism, then you haven’t put your best work out there. You haven’t put your heart out there. When someone criticizes your work and it hurts, that’s a good thing. That means that you’ve put your own heart into it. Their reaction stung you b/c it hit right at the very core of your being.
Haters gonna hate. That’s what they do. But you are better because of them.
